For me, fishing is more than a hobby—it’s a craft I’ve spent a lifetime perfecting. My name is OJay Johnson and my journey behind the rod has taken me across the country, having successfully fished 8 out of 10 Canadian provinces and 2 of the 3 oceans. This broad geographical experience has given me a unique perspective on fish behavior and a versatility that I bring to every charter in the Salish Sea.

As a self-taught angler, I’ve earned my expertise through years of hands-on experience and a relentless drive to master new environments. While I am a newer fixture on the Upper Sunshine Coast, I approach these waters with the same technical discipline that has served me across Canada: analyzing tidal windows, studying depth strategies, and utilizing professional-grade technology to find the fish.

Professional Standards & Gear

The Vessel: We operate a 2021 22-foot North River Seahawk Hardtop. It is a rugged, aluminum-built craft designed specifically for the demands of West Coast waters, providing a safe and stable platform for your trip.

Advanced Tech: I rely on a high-end, integrated electronics suite (including Garmin and Lowrance technology) to give us a precision edge, from locating schools of Chinook to tracking bottom structures for Halibut.

Results-Driven: Operating out of Westview Marina, my goal for Coastal Wonders is simple: to provide a professional, transparent, and productive day on the water. Whether we are targeting salmon in Management Area 15 or pulling prawn traps, you can expect a captain who is as invested in the catch as you are.
